A two-piece brake disc, where the outer section of the disc material normally differs from the inner (hub) that it is mounted to. Rather than all one fixed material, the brake disc itself is "floating" from the hub.
Floating brake discs have several benefits over solid or fixed brake discs, including heat management and weight savings.
