In the UK you must wear a safety helmet when riding a motorcycle or a quad bike on the road. In addition, all helmets worn on UK roads must meet one of the following:
- British Standard BS 6658:1958 and carry the BSI Kitemark.
- UNECE Regulation 22.05
- A European Economic Area member standard offering at least the same safety and protection as BS 6658:1985, and carry a mark equivalent to the BSI Kitemark.
If you are riding off-road, on private land, it is highly recommended that you wear a helmet, too, as any type (road or off-road) of motorcycle riding can be fatal.
If you are considering riding a motorcycle without a helmet, don’t. Our helmets are affordable and meet the latest legal regulations.
If you wear visors or goggles while riding in the UK, you must also ensure these meet certain standards such as:
- A British Standard and display a BSI Kitemark
- Meet a European standard offering at least the same safety and protection as the British Standard and carry a mark equivalent to the BSI Kitemark (UNECE Regulation 22.05)
It is highly advisable that motorcyclists wear protective clothing, gloves and boots when riding, too. It could save your life.
