Mac Is Back As McAMS Yamaha Dominate Brands Hatch Weekend

Tarran Mackenzie returned to winning ways as the McAMS Yamaha team dominated Round 5 of the 2022 Bennetts British Superbike Championship at Brands Hatch with their first ever treble 1-2.
After Jason O’Halloran’s stunning Sprint Race win on Saturday with Mackenzie second, the reigning champion would go one better twice on Sunday to earn the Monster Energy King of Brands trophy for the second successive year. O’Halloran took two seconds, rounding out McAMS Yamaha’s highest ever BSB points haul. It was sheer domination for the Fleetwood effort, taking every win, second place and pole position.

O’Halloran now leads the standings by 10 points over Bradley Ray, with a seven point podium point advantage after his run of nine races finishing no worse than second while Mackenzie’s strong points haul sees him move into a Showdown position in eighth with 105 points, igniting his title defence.

Two Podiums for Oxford Products Ducati Racing Team

It was a very positive weekend for the Oxford Products Ducati Racing Team and Tommy Bridewell. Tommy gained two podium places and a solid fifth place and currently sits in seventh in the overall Championship standings and a vital Showdown spot as it stands.

Tommy Bridewell: “It’s nice to be back challenging where I expect to be every weekend”.

With mixed conditions on Friday, but this didn’t stop Tommy from getting Q2 gaining eighth in combined practice times. The rest of the weekend was favourable weather, which Tommy qualified in fourth place for the opening race on Saturday afternoon. Having a satisfactory start, Tommy dropped a couple places. Soon Tommy came into his own consistently setting some fast lap times, fighting to achieve a third-place finish. The following races saw a solid third place podium finish, and a positive fifth place.
